The Oscars are all about glitz, glamor and stars, so take advantage of all those things when you plan your Oscars party. By following these tips, you can have the perfect Oscars party.

Set the Scene

Place a red carpet inside your front door that all the guests get a chance to walk the red carpet as soon as they arrive. Have a camera handy so you can snap their picture while they are on the carpet.

Your TV will be the star of the party, so make sure you have adequate seating around your TV. Your guests will want to stay close to the TV most of the night, so make it comfortable for them. Make sure they have a place to put their drinks and food and have some pillows and blankets handy in case you need them.

Dressing the Part

If you want to go all out, suggest that your guests wear formal attire. For gentleman, this could mean suits or tuxedos. For the ladies, you could wear formal dresses for prom or other fancy dresses. You can also give out some cheap sunglasses as favors to add to the atmosphere.

Hollywood Activities

To keep everyone involved and interested, you should plan a couple of Oscar activities. Print out ballots with all the nominees listed and have your guests try to pick the winners before the show starts. Tally up the ballots and give out a small trophy or other prize to the winner and runner up. You can also play Oscar Bingo. Design bingo cards with things you may see on the awards show. These could be anything from the color of a dress to the sponsor of a commercial. Again award a small prize or trophy to the winners.

Party Menu

Since many of your guests won’t want to miss the awards and will be eating in front of the TV, try to keep the food portable and easy to serve. Snacks such as chips and dip or salsa, crackers and cheese, cut up fruit and cookies will all work well. Since your party is featuring all the great movies, you’ll want to have a big bowl of popcorn for your guests.

There are many options for drinks for your party, you can serve beer, wine, mixed drinks or make a bowl of party punch. You should also have some non-alcoholic options like cider, juice and soda available.

Plan your party out well in advance and be sure to send out invites far enough ahead that people can reserve the date for your Oscars party. Follow these tips and you’ll have an Oscar Party that your guests will be talking about for a long time to come.
