If you are a fan of Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard‘s horror satire Cabin In The Woods then this news will make you very happy indeed (though mostly if you are planning on taking part in Universal Orlando’s Horror Nights event).
As part of this year’s event a maze style Cabin In The Woods themed attraction is being included.
Universal Orlando’s Michael Aiello in a conversation with Zapit.com stated:
“We are building the cabin completely. You’re going to walk through a forest to get there. You’re going into the cabin. You’re going to go into the cube cells. We’re literally taking everything we can in the film and giving you a kind of best-of montage of the film with this kind of linking story. You’re going to be in the control room when merman attacks.”
Drew Goddard who is reportedly co-writing a story-line for it, that delves a bit deeper into the mythos of the cabin had this to say:
“My wish for Cabin was always that it would live on outside the film, that people would take that ball and run with it,and I can’t imagine a better fit for what we were trying to do with the movie than make a maze out of it.”
I think this is a pretty inspired idea that will sure to be thrilling and will be sure to scare the pants off of you. Seriously, being faced with that Merman or getting to be upfront and centre checking out the cube cells is something just way too cool to contemplate. I think bringing this film into real life, even for a select few nights is a perfect choice. Plus I bet the story they come up with to sit alongside it will be mega.
Along with the monstrosities featured in the movie, the makers of the attraction have the permission to raid Universal’s back-log of monsters – which to me will bring the horror of this attraction up to a whole other level.
The Cabin in the Woods maze themed attraction will run on select nights from Sept. 20 to Nov. 2 as part of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 23 event.
How would you fancy a little face-to-face time with the Merman? What other monsters would you like to see?
