Casting Round-Up! Point Break gets another Bodhi and more…

Did you know that they are needlessly remaking Point Break? I am guessing you did, and if you are like me, you will be face-palming at the thought of it.

Well, there is a little more news on the Point Break front, since Gerard Butler bowed out due to common sense creative differences and clashes with scheduling. Edgar Ramirez (Zero Dead Thirty) is now in talks to replace Butler and play Bodhi (source). Luke Bracey is set to star as undercover agent (that quaterback punk) Johnny Utah…

Point Break is one of my favourite films and it doesn’t matter how quality the cast is (Edgar Ramirez is class) I still can’t get excited… This makes my ovaries hurt. Please stop with the remakes! …I know, fangirl whining, but I don’t care!

In other news… according to The Hollywood Reporter Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons and Tom (Loki) Hiddleston all get to be in a movie together. They are all set to star in the J.G. Ballard adaptation High Rise. This trio of talent should hopefully prove to be cinematic gold.

This next bit of casting news made me very smiley indeed as I am a massive fan of Catherine Keener (Being John Malkovich) and Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett, Star Trek Into Darkness), both have been cast in dysfunctional family drama, The Greens Are Gone, which has a story centered around the disappearance of the son (Yelchin). It will also star  Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) and the always awesome Carey Elwes (The Princess Bride – I realise I could reference his many other movies and ones a lot more recent, but The Princess Bride is my favourite…).
